Medicine Crow, a Native American friend of mine who used to live in Australia, used to call crystals, *the rock people* and he knew them all so intimately. As a novice apprentice of such things at the time, no need to add how much I enjoyed his workshops and introduction to this *species* and their innate personalities and ability to balance, heal and stimulate the human body.
That was a few years ago now and I have crossed many fields of endeavor, acquainting myself further with the magic of this mineral kingdom; walking roads of both wisdom and folly in my pursuit of understanding the *rock people* and their energetic language, a little better, and as with all seekers, I have learned many wondrous things.
Of course as in all esoteric knowledge, one book is never enough and it usually takes about half a dozen before you are able to start to tie up the loose ends left waving by each author along the way. No one person has all the knowledge, perhaps the most fascinating aspect of mystical knowledge itself. However, every once in a while, fate throws you a curve ball and if you manage to catch it, the rewards can be staggering.
Having waded through the Crystal Bible, Melodies : Love is in the Earth (another must for those serious about Crystals), and the book of Gem Lore amongst others, The Book of Stones awaited this novice as a means to transcend the mundane, and help her soar to the next level of hidden understanding.
What I liked most about The Book of Stones when I first held it, was that it was written by a man and a woman, offering the balanced Yin/Yang insight and intellect of both to the playing field. So lacking in most things practical in both Western, or Eastern. And, I was not disappointed because in a rare mix of brilliant clarity and ancient wisdom they weave their magic to bring descriptions that are as much an intimate conversation between the Wisdom of the Stones themselves, as it is the shared deep soul wisdom of the two authors.
This unique combination opened a new and unique world to me, elevating my spiritual knowledge of crystals into the higher form of subtle understanding I was seeking; encompassing as it does, the spiritual, emotional, and physical fields of the reality, and how each is transformed and affected by the vibration of the crystal who encounters it.
Robert brings solid, grounded linear time information on the mineral*s scientific properties, history, geography and lore, revealing much about the families and tribes of these rock entities, whilst Naisha shows us how in their wish to serve, they stimulate and heal our bodies upon contact to our four levels of existence. Just as a lettuce lives to offer itself up as nourishing biochemistry, so too the crystal with its energetic vibration, realigning and stimulating the Chakras and electromagnetic fields of our bodies, to help bring peace, balance and tranquility back to the individual.
It may be no accident they are here too, and each carries its own affirmation to further change the energy fields of our auras, many here to protect us energetically.
Each description is lovingly accompanied by a beautiful picture to help you identify the many varieties and species of *Rock People* who share our planet with us. Amongst the most fascinating, those who are themselves still thought to be in a state of evolution.. with helpful and timely warnings posted throughout the book on which to wear, and not wear, for long periods of time.
No doubts about it, this pictorial metaphysical encyclopedia is what crystal lovers, healers and reference library collectors from all over the world, were waiting for to tie up their own loose ends.

I honestly dont think it matters which end of the scale you are coming from when you open the pages of this wonder, perhaps that is part of its wonder. It really is unsurpassed in its ability to immediately give you the elemental understanding required and very accurate. I highly recommend it if you are interested in learning more, well.
Actually, the rock people have a very simple, yet profound language that is easy to understand all round, as it slowly permeates beyond the gross perceptions to the subtle levels of understanding.
To understand that comment more clearly, perhaps the next time you are passing a shop with crystal jewelry pop in and hold a largish piece of Moldavite, or malachite for a while... then switch to Amber, or Carnelian and see how it feels different.
Crystals are said to choose us and often a piece of something will turn up when you most need it, this book would be an invaluable guide in deciphering, why?
Happy Hunting
